    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Scheduling and Visits TIP.

Is a prescription needed for physical therapy?

  • We will need a current diagnosis  for you and I will be able to obtain that from your treating doctor once I have seen you for an evaluation. Or your doctor can use his own prescription pad to order your physical therapy. If for some reason you do not want to go through your MD, please call us about this situation. Physical Therapy is able to provide some visits without a prescription.

What are the hours of operation for in-home physical therapy?

  • Monday – Friday from 8 am to 5 pm by appointment. Sat / Sunday and after hours also available by appointment.

What kinds of conditions you treat?

  • We treat most orthopedic, neurological, or cardiopulmonary issues that cause pain or limit function. You may need rehabilitation services if you have a functional limitation such as: Difficulty getting out of a chair or out of bed. Fear of bathing, falling or going out. Fatigue or shortness of breath. Pain that limits what you do. See the separate tab on this website for a detailed list.

How long are the sessions?

  • Evaluations (the first visit) will take approximately 60 minutes and include some treatment and home instructions as well. Sessions thereafter will take 45-60 minutes for treatments. But we can be flexible, it depends on the need of our client.

How many visits will it take?

  • Every case is different. We give each of our clients a unique therapy plan tailored to their individual needs. Our average is 8-16 visits, many people only need 1-3 and we have about 50% of our clients who either use our services ongoing, or on call . If you have a caregiver at home, you might want to hire a private therapist to instruct the caregiver in way to keep you as able, comfortable and safe as possible. A caregiver can help you carry out a program, but unless that person is very skilled they aren't likely to know how to adjust the program as you change. The therapist may only need to come infrequently.

What are the fees?

  • Our fees are  equivalent to most outpatient physical therapy clinics. There are no charges for travel time or expense to your residence.

How do I know if my insurance plan covers physical therapy?

  • We accept Medicare part B, Medicare HMO "Medicare Advantage Plan", Medicaid (Husky), many insurance out of network and private pay. Most of our senior patients are covered by Medicare. Secondary insurance such as Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, AARP, and United Health Care will cover the co-payment. Call us today and we will verify your insurance for you. We also encourage you to contact your carrier prior to your first visit, to check for any limitations your policy may have regarding physical therapy.

What cities are covered by these services?

  • We covered Danbury, Bethel, Ridgefield, Redding, Brookfield, New Fairfield, Newtown, Sandy Hook, Bridgewater, Wilton, Weston, Monroe, New Milford, Southbury, Sherman, Roxbury, Fairfield, Oxford, Woodbury, Middlebury, Greenwich, Naugatuck, Waterbury and beyond. We also provide  services to patients in assisted living facilities in these areas. If in doubt, email or call us to inquire as to whether your location might be covered by our services.

Dose exercises Hurt?

  • We should not be hurting you. Some exercises are not easy (challenging your balance, stretching tight muscles) but generally if you aren't comfortable, don't believe what we are doing is helping, you don't tend to get better. Tell us what you feel, learning to notice what you feel and recognizing if there is a pattern between what you felt and how you feel later, later is an important part of getting over painful responses. Sometimes you can do that at home with our help better than you can in a clinic. The goals is you will do that again, so our job is to find the way so you can do it.

I have never been athletic?

I don’t have enough energy to exercises?

  • We will improve your energy level. Slowly and carefully, for some of you, and faster for others. Everyone benefits from the right amount of exercises. Even people who are 101 years old can improve their balance and increase the blood circulation. The brain benefits from the exercises too !

It's too late, or this illness or disability prevents it?

  • Rehabilitation Services focus on quality of life, on what you are able to do, adapting what you cannot change. You are never too old or disabled to benefit from rehabilitation to improve your balance or strength. Rehabilitation means many things to many people. You may improve, with therapy, to have more flexibility, strength, balance and be more able than you have been in a long time. There are always ways to adapt your environment and technique to improve safety, function, satisfaction and energy. Call 203 930 0539 or email us @ healinghand123@gmail.com TODAY to schedule an appointment.

There isn’t enough time for exercise?

  • Those who think they have no time for exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness” - Edward Stanley.

My house isn’t cleaned up enough for someone to come here?

  • If your house is clean, and you cleaned it, you probably don’t need us to come to your house for therapy. We go to many houses every day, and everyone’s definition of clean and neat is different.

It’s too expensive to have someone come to my home?

  • Our rates are comparable to outpatient therapy in a clinic and what we do is more functional, also you  will save time and money by having us come to you at "NO" extra cost! We strive to provide you with a positive and pleasant experience with your physical therapy. You will receive one-on-one treatment from the same therapist each time.

Do I have to be home-bound in order to qualify for this service in my home?

  • NO. There are no qualifications other then that, you need Physical Therapy, have a doctor’s order, and live at home or in an assisted living facility within  the geographic  parameters mentioned above.
